In a world of many options, I want to offer you a simple path forward in 2025.

There is a principle in philosophy called Occam’s Razor. It’s the idea that the simplest explanation is usually the best. And I think the same is true for the changes we want in life. The best decisions we make in life are often the simplest ones.

When it comes to changes in your health, there is no need to overcomplicate your health journey. Look for the simplest decision you can make, moving you in the right direction. Start with what is right in front of you.

What's the next logical step?

This is a question we ask a lot in health coaching.

If you are considering contracting a Functional Nutritional Counselor or Health Coach to finally address your health concerns in the New Year, I created a 2-page handout with the 10 Questions to Ask a New Functional Provider.

10 Questions to ask a New Functional Health Provider

1. What are your credentials, health journey?

Taylor has a Master’s in Counseling and is Certified in Functional Nutrition (Functional Nutritional Alliance) and is Board-Certified as a Health & Wellness Coach. She is an Adjunct Instructor for Health & Wellness Coaching through UCSD’s Extension program. Having experienced mysterious symptoms growing up—including back and reproductive issues, gut challenges like Intestinal Methane Overgrowth (IMO), Autoimmune Thyroid challenges, and recurring viral symptoms—she discovered the power of transforming her health through lifestyle changes, a nervous system reset, and optimizing her body’s 'terrain' (like cleaning up a fish tank). This journey not only resolved her symptoms and helped to increase her strength, manage her weight, and regulate her nervous system. She is inspired to help others become the CEOs of their own health through functional and foundational medicine without relying on conventional medicine.

2. What is your approach to identifying the root cause of health issues?

The root causes lie in 5 key factors: A Disrupted Gut Microbiome, Nutritional Deficiencies, Chronic Infections, Toxin Buildup, and A Disregulated Nervous System.

3. What types of lab testing do you typically use, and how do you interpret the results?

Your routine wellness checks can provide some of the most clinically valid blood tests: a Complete Blood Count with Differential, Complete Thyroid Panel, Complete Metabolic Panel, and Fasting Glucose/A1C, Serum Vitamin D. Lifetime Coaching, LLC interprets these labs through functional ranges and can also request the serum labs listed above (if needed). Lifetime Health Coaching uses functional tests such as a genetic cheek swab test, Total Toxin Burden, stool, organic acids test, NeuralChek (Brain Stress and Nervous System), as well as Quantum Nutrition Testing. Lifetime Coaching does not diagnose but offers nutritional and lifestyle suggestions based on functional ranges.

4. Who are your favorite clients to serve? What symptoms or Diagnosis do they have?

I love working with natural health seekers seeking to reverse their gut-brain-immune symptoms so they have the energy and peace to live out their purpose without relying on drugs. If you or a loved one has mystery, chronic symptoms, or autoimmune challenges, consider booking a Complimentary Session. Every time we experience overwhelm without completion, we add to both the cellular danger response and systemic dysregulation our body is carrying. So, if you have IBS, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Anxiety, or autoimmunity such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Lupus, or Rheumatoid Arthritis, these disease processes all have a common root: Nervous System Dysregulation.

5. What are your costs, and do you accept insurance or offer payment plans?

Costs for the Tier 1 Health & Wellness Coaching package start at $947 for 8 Sessions and $697 for the Tier 2 Nutritional Counseling service programs. Please consider requesting a letter of medical necessity from your licensed medical provider to be reimbursed for functional nutritional or health coaching services. Also, Lifetime Coaching, LLC accepts HSA/FSA cards to take advantage of tax-free healthcare.

6. If you were to have your clients work on one lifestyle change, what would you suggest?

Sleep! If you are not sleeping, you are not allowing your body to repair, and your nervous system is struggling to regulate itself. Also, get your functional genetics tested. It’s only one test you have to complete in your lifetime, and it’s a great place to start understanding some actionable steps you can take to address your genetic deficiencies with diet and lifestyle. Personalized Medicine is a genes-first approach.

7. Where do your clients typically start?

My clients typically start with a quick chat and a free assessment. If you are in need of behavior change support to eat well and exercise, I highly recommend Health & Wellness Coaching, it’s the most science-backed way to step out of old habits. If you have eliminated the common inflammatory foods (gluten, dairy, sugar) and are “doing all the right things” yet still struggling to eliminate your mystery, chronic, autoimmune or persistant gut-brain symptoms, nutritional counseling is a great way to support clients by hearing their story, mapping it on a functional matrix and guiding them to clean up their terrain in a gentle and effictive way. It’s personalized to you! This gets clients back to feeling like themselves again and the tools to have the energy and peace to live out their purpose for a lifetime of vibrant health.

8. What does success look like in your practice, and how do you measure progress?

Lifetime Coaching follows labs, symptoms, and trends. Check out the client testimonials on Lifetime Coaching’s Website.

9. Do you collaborate with other providers, such as primary care or specialists?

Yes! If your provider has lifestyle recommendations, we incorporate their recommendations into your plan.

10. What’s your process for building a personalized treatment plan?

A quality functional provider should tailor protocols based on your history, labs, goals, and bioindividuality, not rely on one-size-fits-all supplements or detox kits.
